Volunteering

Would you like to be a farmer someday? Or maybe you would enjoy a new experience. Talk to Rebecca. Planning ahead gets you the more fun chores, but there’s always something to do on a farm! Chores will be custom selected according to your skills and interests.

TYPES OF JOBS FOR DIFFERENT MOODS:

TO BE HAPPY: TAKE YOUR TIME

  • pick some flowers and herbs
  • hand tame baby goats
  • play with people much younger than you
  • do some nature observation

TO IMPROVE YOUR FUTURE: SHOW GENEROSITY

  • plant seeds and trees
  • spread compost
  • preserve produce
  • do science and research

TO CLEAR NEGATIVITY: BE STRONG AND BRAVE

  • shovel some manure
  • weed the garden
  • sweep out the stand
  • take out the compost

TO ATTAIN MERIT: LIVE YOUR TRUTH

  • feed and water animals and poultry
  • advertise (spread good words)
  • be honest
  • demonstrate and educate

Hello, I am going to be moving to Chilmark for the summer and would like to volunteer. Is there an opportunity to volunteer with the garden?

Certainly Holly!  Right now it is getting some needed rain. When you arrive, come by (on Weds, from 10-12, or call 508-645-3304) We can tour the gardens and talk about what you would like to be involved in. We have a dye garden, various vegetable gardens, and a children’s garden, and we can always use some help! best wishes, Rebecca
